The 14th Degree and Beyond, Inc. was established in 1998, and incorporated as a not for profit in January 2001, based out of New York City. Our organization and magazine is for all original women, so-called women of color, regardless of culture, religion, education, belief system or school of thought. The name, The 14th Degree and Beyond, derives from the 14th question and answer of the Lost / Found Muslim Lesson No. 1, within the Nation of Gods and Earths' 120 Lessons, or The Supreme Wisdom of the Nation of Islam, which states the various duties a woman of Islam must be skilled in, such as raising children, taking care of her husband, keeping house, cooking, sewing and how to act as a mother, wife and Queen whether at home or abroad. ‘Beyond' is added to "The 14th Degree" to emphasize that a woman may partake in the previously stated duties, however, she is not limited to them alone, and the scope of dutiful womanhood expands far beyond these boundaries.
